Do What You Love

I believe that most parents would like it for their children to go for the career path that has a clear view of a 'promising future' and plus with big salary. Well, my parents are like that and to their pleasure, I just started that type of a career they wanted me to have.

But I hate it. Or maybe I'm just not used to it yet?

It's the first time in my life that I don't feel the love in the thing I do. I may have complained all the time during my study days and my past career as an assistant architect but by the time I changed to the 'promising future' career, I realized that I actually enjoyed my previous job. Though I had overtime almost everyday and my salary was lower, I definitely loved those days way better.

I now realize that money can't actually buy you happiness. What's the point to earn more money but you have to wake up every morning feeling shitty to do things you don't enjoy doing. To me, it's not worth it at all.

Now that I'm living that life, I'm advising you, especially youngsters who are yet to start your working life, find something that you love first and strive to have that as your career, definitely not the other way around. I used to advise people that you just need a job and you can slowly love the job though you don't like it at first. No, I find it's so hard to try to love your job.

But of course, though it's hard, we really should make an effort to try to love the job we're working on and that's what I'm currently trying to do. Since it's our responsibility, we also must do our job diligently with integrity no matter how much we hate it. Hopefully, we'll be fine and start enjoying the work we love in the future, eventually.

And that's the end of me complaining on my current life as the first post after so long hiatus teehee.

Happy Eid!

It's been three consecutive years that I celebrated Eid at Manjung which is my father's side. To reminiscence the feeling of celebrating Eid all over again, Imma just put this one nice photo of my family here.

I love meeting everyone's family and their #ootd on Instagram every time the month of Syawal comes. It's been a week since 1st Syawal but I hope it is still not too late to wish you guys Happy Eid al-Fitr! I hope this year had been the best Eid for you guys :)

The week felt too short I am so not ready for Monday tsk.

Soz not soz for the short update.

A Piece Of Me

Okay, the title of this post sounds quite dramatic which I didn't expect it to be but whatever. Anyway, hello blogosphere, I've missed blogging so much and I hope you missed me too. As cliche as it could be, I just had that blogging slump due to work overload and social life took over most of my time. Other than those busy schedule, having a lot of sleeping time was something I couldn't avoid to occupy myself with teehee, and of course, having no Wi-Fi at my rented house was the main reason I was on hiatus.

However, my itching fingers couldn't wait any longer and that was what brought me here. I have so much to tell you, even my draft is full of unfinished post but today's post will be just me, updating my life and sharing the lucky days I had for the past weeks of my blogging hiatus.

Over the months I never give up in applying for a job position in government sector but I never had the chance to even get an interview. Finally, on 7th June, I got a call asking me to attend an interview for the position of an architect at Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh (MBI) the very next day! Though I wasn't ready at all, I went to the interview nonetheless.

I also got a love call for an interview at Majlis Perbandaran Manjung (MPM) for the same position as I was offered at MBI. Unfortunately, I got an interview for Master of Architecture at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) the very same day with MPM's. After so much contemplation, I decided to go for USM's. I will post an entry about my experience attending both the interviews in hoping to help you, who would need it.

I did finish reading aA+bB from the list of books I'm yet to read but currently on procrastinating mode to read the rest of the books. Currently reading The Kill Order but since there was no Newt nor Minho, I gradually lost interest in the book. I am so not a bookworm.

Since Kdrama 'Goblin' was so good, the dramas I watched after 'Goblin' such as 'Strong Woman Do Bong Soon' didn't hype me up. But maan Park Hyungsik was sooo hot teehee. Currently, I'm so into Korean variety show '2 days 1 night' rather than 'Runningman' and I also love 'I can see your voice' season 4.
Oh and believe it or not I'm currently watching 'Hero Seorang Cinderella' and 'Andai Itu Takdir' due to my new friend, Mimi's influence. After a few episodes of both dramas, I guess Malay drama wasn't that bad at all and I do enjoy watching them (these two are the first ever Malay drama I watched).

I think it's not just me but most of us are into the song by Louis Fonsi ft Daddy Yankee 'Despacito'. I was addicted to the song too but it's disappointing to know that the lyric was sexual. So I didn't download the song as I would've done when I found the song I like.
And damn G-Dragon's new album was so dope I love all the songs especially the title song, Untitled 2014. Try to give it a listen on youtube (click).

Though it's long overdue, I still want to wish you guys Happy Ramadhan! For the remaining days, let us together devoted ourselves in searching for Laylatul Qadr and may our ibadah in this holy month be accepted by Him.

My Actual Goal In Life

My Actual Goal In Life

I don't know if it's cliche but as I've been working for almost two years now (I know it's still early but whatever), I realised that I hate to work under other people's command. Though criticism would help us improve our work, the kind like 'Tu pon taktau, kau belajar apa dulu?' really hurts. So I decided that in the end, I WILL BE A BOSS.

If you read my post 'The Love-Hate Relationship' and 'That Once In A Lifetime Chance', you'll probably know that I sometimes still in dilemma between loving my job or hating it. Though I do enjoy my job but believe it or not, to be a professional architect is not my life goal (well, sometimes still contemplating about that).

My actual goal in life; I really really want to state that I want to be a traveller with full time blogging as my career but as far as I could see, it's almost impossible. But who knows what would happen in the future so I'll just leave it here, hoping that if this comes true, I could blog about it, saying 'Yes, I've achieved my dream'.

Looking far into the future with reality in mind, my actual goal in life is to own either an art cafe or a boutique, or maybe both(?), with freelancing doing architecture. I don't know how to cook or make coffee, nor I'm a fashionista tho, lol. I've always had a thing for these two kinds of business so yea.

Before owning any business, I really want to fulfil my parents' dream to see me working as a lecturer, plus it's a job I, myself want to experience too. To achieve this, I need to complete Master study first so wish me luck for my master application! I do plan to become a lecturer in 5 years time and slowly making my business career debut. I plan to own the art cafe/boutique before turning 40.

Of course, along with the life plan, I would travel oversea at least once a year. If some girls define their 'reward yourself' as shopping new handbags and stuff, mine would be travelling!

So that's a wrap of my life plan. Thought I needed to blog about it since I just recently decided what I want to do with my life. Oh, I planned the future without marriage in mind, maybe will get married at the age of 50? Teehee.

What's your life goal? Are you currently working on it?

Overcome The Past I'm Afraid Of

Throughout our life, we wouldn't be able to avoid making mistakes, from as small as saying 'No' to your parents to as big as a crime where you'd be put in jail for it. I believe everyone has that one past they're afraid of, or is it just me?

I actually have that one particular incident happened that I'm afraid of. I won't reveal it here, but it's enough for you to know that I did something terrible, something I regretted a lot. That incident in some way affected my life at that moment and until now I'm afraid of it coming back to bite me in the future. Just the thought alone made me felt like committing suicide. Well, that's how huge the mistake I did, though I didn't go to jail for it, lol. Almost, maybe?

Here's what I learned after the incident;

Having the people you trust, the people who believe in you is a gift you will cherish for the rest of your life. I couldn't tell my family about the incident, I told my close friends instead. They didn't straightly judge me like everyone else. They listened to my side of the story, they helped me solve the problem and lent their shoulder for me to cry on. From that moment, I knew that these people are the friends I wouldn't be able to live without. I love you guys, you know who you are.

Be brave and confront the problem you caused. You were the one who did it so it's a cowardly act if you run from it. The problem wouldn't be solved if you don't confront and try to solve it. In the end, you're the one who would be imprisoned by it and trust me, it will affect your mental well-being, and that is a big NO.

One mistake doesn't make your whole world ends. No matter how huge the mistake you did, as long as you regretted doing it and you vow to not repeat it again, you're free from it! I know it will be hard to face the public, to hear insults and stuff but bear in mind that people were so boring they don't know what to do other than to talk bad and judge you, but it will only be temporary. Held your head high and face them like a boss, because these people who only brings you negativity shouldn't be in your life anyway.

Here's a confession; The incident happened over a year now but I still can't get over it. Sometimes it hunted me down in my dreams and like I mentioned earlier, I'm afraid of it coming back to bite me in the future. But for now, I choose to just embrace the present and slowly trying to let it go.

Do you have the past you're afraid of? Did you get over it yet?

The Blue Sky Tag

Well, I've been so busy lately but I hope I'm not that late for doing this 'Blue Sky Tag' post. Answering questions or doing this tagging post had always been so much fun especially when you have no idea on what to post. So thank you Farahz for tagging me.

And since this post had been long overdue, I'm gonna just answer Farahz's questions and ignore all the rules of this tag;

1. Thank the person who tagged you - Did this in the first paragraph, if you noticed *wink
2. Answer their 11 questions
3. Tag 11 people
4. Give them 11 questions to answer

So here are the questions:

1. What was the last song you listen to? Describe about it.
I listened to some music while driving this morning and it was Martin Garrix's Animals. The song is my all time favourite from him. I don't really know what to address the song (or track?) as it doesn't have singing in it. I first fell in love with such songs when I discovered people do covers of these songs using drum pads. I really enjoy Martin Garrix, Skrillex and Alan Walker.

Here's a link to the song, hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did:

2. What kind of music do you prefer to listen when you're driving?
This actually depends on my mood. If I feel like speeding, I'll listen to fast beat songs especially hip hop such as Holup by Bobby. If I feel like driving peacefully, I'll listen to Ballad.

3. What is your favourite band?
I don't care if they don't consider as 'band' but I love them; BIGBANG, 5SOS, Fall Out Boy, 2NE1. Oh, I forgot to mention BLACKPINK, One Direction, iKON, Winner. Oh, and Twenty One Pilots, New Empire, Arctic Monkeys and the list goes on.

4. Do you prefer cheap but delicious food at mamak/warung or expensive and delicious food at hipster/famous cafe?
I'm okay with both (warung and hipster cafes) but not so much for mamak. I can only eat their roti canai.

5. What is the thing that you're good at?
Eat, Sleep, Repeat. LOL
Okay, guess I'm good at drawing? Check out my works.

6. If you have to choose between friends and lover, which one would you prefer?
I've been single for the past 7 years and during that period my friends are my lover(s) so I would always choose them over my future lover.

7. How would you describe yourself?
Not friendly. Blunt. Bad temper. Love money and food. But despite all this, please still be my friend teehee.

8. Do you really love what you are doing now? (Study/job/etc)
I'm in a love-hate relationship with my job now. Sometimes it bores me to death but sometimes I love it that I don't wanna leave the office. You can read more about it HERE.

9. When did you start blogging?
When I was 16 years old (wow that's a long time ago).

10. Why did you start blogging?
It began as an assignment, and then for fun and fame and now it's a hobby. I've written about point 9 and 10 in a post HERE.

11. What do you love the most about your blog?
My face on the right sidebar. Okay, no. I love everything about my blog. I never regret whatever I wrote because they all came from my heart. But I do want to have my own domain and purchase at least one premium template. One day lah.

So you read all 11 questions I've answered? Thank you!

Dear Single Ladies...

I was so exhausted last weekend. Our big family had a family day on Saturday and I moved to a new rent house on Sunday, after the family day. A bit about my family day, we stayed at Chalet Terapung Segantang Garam. The room price varied for room types. We booked a house with three rooms which cost RM420 for one night. Though I loved the short getaway, I was quite dissatisfied with the bathroom as the water supply was low pressure and the bathroom wasn't as clean as I expected it to be. But overall, I had a wonderful time as I loved the view so much especially the sunset view from our room.

chalet terapung segantang garam

chalet terapung segantang garam

Anyway, I moved to a new house last Sunday. I decided to move due to the long journey of 20minutes to my workplace from my old house while the distance between my new house to my workplace is only 8minutes. I rented the master bedroom with attached bathroom.

As I didn't get a better look when I reviewed the room earlier, I was so shocked at the unhygienic conditions of the room. The ceiling and the wall were covered with cobweb while the ceiling fan was covered with thick dust. The white colour of the fan was hardly can be seen. The bathroom wall was so dirty, black spot was all over it. The toilet bowl was the worst of all, brown colour filled the bowl, clearly the previous owner never once cleaned her shit. I'm sorry for my language but I was so so mad at that time, still am, when recalling the moment. Like seriously, gurl? You left me your shit!

Dear single ladies,

I know we have all the freedom we want before we get married. We can do whatever we want, ignoring whatever people think about us but please, that doesn't mean we don't have to prepare ourselves for a married life and taking care of the hygiene around us is what should be our habit. Hell no, cleanliness is not only for married couple but it's our responsibility for ourselves.

I honestly can't brain how you, unhygienic girls could dress up prettily when you went out but your room, your laundry was a mess and smelly and dirty! Harap muka je cantik. And the most important thing is, how can you perform your prayer in such a dirty surrounding as Islam clearly places great emphasis on cleanliness;

"For Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean..." (al-Baqara, 222).

"He caused rain to descend on you from heaven, to clean you therewith..." (al-Anfal,11)

Dear single ladies,

I'm not saying to sweep the floor every second or clean the bathroom every time you take a bath but it's enough to just make sure your room, your house, is as clean as your appearance when you went out.

Siapa yang makan cili, dia yang terasa pedas. Soz not soz.

Books I'm Yet To Read

Guys, I'm in the mood of reading *clap clap. I actually have tonnes of books I'm yet to read back in my hometown but currently, I just have these five books here in Kulim.

I did mention HERE in my older post, that I wish to learn Chinese and finally I bought 'Bahasa Mandarin untuk Pemula' for a stepping stone. But reading the book, I do have a problem; HOW TF SHOULD I PRONOUNCE THESE WORDS?! For example; wo xiang xuexi hanyu. Terbelit lidah k. By the way, it means 'I want to learn Mandarin'.

maze runner

The Kill Order & The Fever Code - James Dashner
The Maze Runner is my favourite series. I have bought all the books in the series a long time ago and I've read the trilogy, but I'm yet to finish these two. They're the prequel to the trilogy, that's why I'm procrastinating in reading them because there's no Newt nor Minho (as far as I've read them lah). I'm currently reading 'The Kill Order', hoping to quickly finish it and start reading 'The Fever Code' as soon as possible.

maze runner

I just bought these two books about a few days back.

aA+bB - Hlovate
I don't know if it's just me but I think most of us so called writers, dream to publish a book. I bought 'aA+bB' by Hlovate because I'm planning to write a Malay novel manuscript. I've read a lot of good Malay novels especially from Aisya Sofea and Ahadiat Akashah but I never read Hlovate yet. It's been ages since I last read Malay novel so I thought to read Hlovate's for my manuscript reference since Hlovate is so popular among Malay novel lovers. I'm currently reading it but unfortunately, it is not up to my liking because the sentences are too simple and it made the cliche storyline uninterested. I would prefer the ayat-berbunga-jiwang-karat type of writing. But I would continue reading it nonetheless and maybe would buy Aisya Sofea's soon.

The Book of Tomorrow - Cecelia Ahern
Romance lovers wouldn't dare to deny Cecelia Ahern's books. Of course, 'Love, Rosie' was what made me fell in love with her writing. I was contemplating between 'The Book of Tomorrow' and 'The Time of My Life', I was thinking to buy both but since I have tonnes of books waiting to be read, I decided to buy just one and it is 'The Book of Tomorrow'. The synopsis was what attracted me to buy this book and hey, isn't the cover is the cutest?

Tamara Goodwin hs had everything given to her. She has never wasted a thought on tomorrow. But when tragedy turns her world upside down, she has to leave her comfortable life behind, abandoning an affluent existence for the charity of relatives deep in the countryside.
When travelling library arrives in the village, it offers an escape into the pages of the books on its shelves. One of them, a heavy leather-bound volume locked with a padlock, draws Tamara to it. And what she discovers within its pages starts to change her life in the most unexpected of ways...

Fun fact; I love collecting books, especially novels but I'm too lazy to read them. So here's a challenge from me, to myself; I should finish reading all five books before ending May because I was thinking to buy a new one next month teehee.

Do you have books you're yet to read?

2 Days 1 Night in Hat Yai, Thailand

The busy working days made me couldn't catch up with life and that life included this blog. That's why I've been away for quite some time, soz not soz. Anyway, the hectic schedule also made me felt exhausted and wanted to escape the reality so my friends and I decided to go on a short vacation in Hat Yai, Thailand last weekend. Initially we wanted to experience the Songkran festival but unfortunately, they ended the festival on Friday in Hat Yai. But I enjoyed the trip nonetheless.

We went in a group of seven but actually, I only knew Jiha and Ed from the SL1M training while the other four were Jiha's friends whom I met for the first time on the day of the trip. I was nervous to think about how awkward we would be as it'll be a trip with total strangers but fortunately, it was easy for us to get close to each other since semua pon masuk air je perangai.

Meet the squad: (from left) Ed, Silah, Aida, Kak Nurul, Yana, Me and Jiha

It has been quite a while since I last went on a vacation with friends so I was looking forward for it but damn it I had overtime the night before the trip (thanks, boss), I ended up sleeping only for 3 hours.

Day 1
I slept at Jiha's house that night so that we could travel together to Tasek Gelugor train station and meet the others there. We woke up at 4:30 am, to catch the commuter which would depart at 5:48 am. The journey from Tasek Gelugor to Padang Besar took about one and a half hours by commuter. We went directly to the Musolla for Subuh prayer and had our breakfast when we arrived Padang Besar train station since the ticket counter for the train to Hatyai only opened at 9:00 am.

We boarded the train to Hat Yai after passing Immigration of both countries and the train departed at 10:40 am. This trip marked my third time travelling to Hat Yai but it was my first time travelling there by train. I was amazed at how comfy the seat and how cute the interior of the train was though it's an old train.

Hat Yai, Thailand
ada kipas on the ceiling hokayy, plus air-cond so it was so cold on the train

The train journey took about one hour and we arrived Hat Yai at 10:30 am (local time, which was an hour late from Malaysia). We booked a hotel for our 2 days and 1 night stay at Singapore Hotel using It would take us about 15mins by walking from the train station to our hotel but since we were so tired and our backpack was so heavy, we decided to take Tuk Tuk instead. We chose Tuk Tuk for our transportation there because it was the cheapest and fun ride for travellers, especially since we were on a tight budget.

Hat Yai, Thailand

pardon me, who was the only one feeling excited for riding this

I could say that I was satisfied with the hotel we stayed at, Singapore Hotel. The condition of the hotel was over the top for an affordable price. The room was spacious and so clean. The staff was so friendly and was a big help to us for being patient and layan karenah kami yang bermacam during our stay. It's no doubt that I will stay here if I went to Hat Yai again in the future (hopefully abang receptionist tu kenal I lagi teehee).

We took a rest for an hour and went for lunch and shopping at Hat Yai Plaza. Of course, barang-barang dijual memang harga runtuh. I spotted a bag and a shoe which I was interested in buying but managed to refrain myself. I definitely will go there again to buy those. But some of the sellers suka bebel (dan marah) whenever we discussed for discounts which made the mood of shopping was a bit down and turned to bengang jugak

The food court was located at the top floor of the Plaza. However, I think I won't eat at the food court again as I spotted a big fat mice in their kitchen after having my lunch (still thought of vomiting remembering it again).

We spent almost four hours at the Plaza and went back to the hotel briefly to put our shopping bags away before going to the Floating Market. The journey to Floating Market by Tuk Tuk took us about half an hour, we reached the Floating Market at 4:00 pm. Initially, we thought the market didn't open yet as there was no one selling their goods on the sampan. Turned out that the sea level was high at that time so everyone was on the land, which was quite disappointing as there was no 'floating market' feeling.

But the variety of foods was good as always. I regretted having lunch earlier because I couldn't fill my stomach with more foods at the market. So if you plan to go to the Floating Market, make sure you went there with an empty stomach.

After we filled our tummy and went souvenir shopping at the Floating Market, we went back to our hotel by the same Tuk Tuk we took to go to the market. You could tell your driver to wait for you while you went to the market as it would be quite difficult to catch new one there. Usually, the driver would wait for you for one or two hours, depending on your negotiation with them.

We didn't spend too much time at the hotel, only for two hours. We went to Asean Market after Maghrib prayer. For me personally, I liked Asean Market the most on this trip. The food court was clean and had variety of choices for you. The shopping area was way better and wider than the one at Hat Yai Plaza. There was also a recreational park for you to lepak with friends and family which was so nice.

I swear this is the first and the last time I ever did this pose, lol

Well, might as well says that this trip was all about Hat Yai's markets as we didn't go straight to the hotel after Asean Market. We went to the night market near our hotel by walking just to window shopping because no money left for more goods, lol. Finally, we went to bed at 1:00 am, feeling so exhausted from all the walking.

Day 2
Since the train to Padang Besar would have seat number, we went to buy the ticket in the morning, at 8:00 am by Tuk Tuk. We went touring the hotel area after we bought the tickets and we had our breakfast at Salma Restaurant. I would fully recommend you to try their Nasi Kerabu as it was the best in town.

Our train was at 1:00 am but we went there an hour early. The train to Padang Besar, the same one we rode heading to Hat Yai took us about one hour and we reached Padang Besar at 3:00 pm (Malaysian's time).

Grand Total: RM56.61 + RM24.60 = RM81.21

Since I didn't take note on how much I spent on foods and miscellaneous, I couldn't list down the things I bought but I did notice that I spent approximately RM150 for the whole trip. Though it was just a short vacay, with time mostly spent at markets, experiencing the culture and spent time with friends was what I loved the most on the two days trip. Can't wait for my next, proper vacation.

Soz not soz for the long post.

The Strangers That Would Be My Lifetime Friends

I'm always fascinated at how a stranger could turn into a friend in a blink of an eye. How the first polite conversation of "hi, nice to meet you," could turn to "give my phone back, you b*tch" and of course, everything started with a simple "hi", an approach made by that someone, welcoming you to be friends.

To some people, like me, friends are the people who are a lot closer and know me more than my family does. They know more about what I like and what I don't rather than my family because I lived more than half of my life with them. I'm not saying that I cherished my friends more than my family but they do have a special place in my heart.

New friends would be a positive addition in our life as the quote 'new friends, new life' enhanced. The differences we have such as our hometown and education background made us get to learn from each other and view life from each other's perspective which I find is the most interesting part of having new friends.

But here's a confession. I am not good at making new friends. At all. A typical introvert me, I would never make the first step to approach someone like, "Hi, I'm Lya. You?" Sorry but nope, that never happened before and might as well says that it will never happen at all.

I think that might be the reason why I don't have thousands of friends like everyone else. But I do have few friends who are very close to me and I thank them for approaching me first or else, I'll never get to know them.

Anyway, this post is made dedicated to these six new friends of mine, amazing people I just met for 3 weeks but felt like we've been friends for 3 years already. I first met them during SL1M programme, the graduate's employment programme I joined as I mentioned in my older posts before.

I didn't expect that I'll be making friends in this programme because actually, I felt it wouldn't be worth it to have new friends during the 3 weeks training. So thank you guys for approaching me, for being a very good friend though we just knew each other less than a month and for making me realised that new friends worth just as much as longtime friends are.

*from left: me, Anis, Alia, Syam, Zul, Faruq and Jiha

It's been so long that I had new friends so soz not soz for an emotional post tonight, teehee.

How about you guys? When did you meet you latest new friends?

Online Shopping With

I would have to admit that I'm an online shopper geek. For me, to have a convenience online shopping platform where I could get everything I wanted in one place would make my mood of shopping went on cloud nine. Break Your Limiting Belief

pixabay goal

As I mentioned in my previous post, I joined SL1M for a job placement in Kulim, Kedah. Honestly, before I actually join this programme, I thought the one-month training would be a boring lecture-like session on soft skills where I'll be dozing off in the first half an hour. Little did I know that it would be a training full of knowledge and fun where I'd feel like wasting my time for going to the toilet in the middle of the training.

I believe that by sharing our knowledge, we'll gain more so I would share with you all the things I've learned during the one-month SL1M programme training. The one topic I felt related to was 'Limiting Belief'. Limiting belief is something that you believe is your limit. For example, you studying accountancy but you don't think you can go for a professional level such as ACCA because you believe you WILL fail. You LIMIT yourself to only a degree because you think you CAN'T.

I can and I will
Honestly, before joining the programme I felt the same way, or maybe I still am, hehe, but I did boost my confident level a bit to think that I can and I will. Just dream big. It's not a sin and it doesn't cost money to dream, so why limit ourselves? You want to marry a prince, just dream that you WILL marry a prince. Who knows if he's not a prince, you'll marry a guy with handsome face and deep pocket like a prince instead. Gurl, you hit the jackpot, teehee.

SPM candidates, please believe that you CAN and you WILL achieve straight A's in SPM even if you're in the lowest class. If you think you can, you will work hard to make it true, that you can. Show them who think you can't, that they are 100% wrong because you can and you will.

Jot down your goal
Being an adult with success in mind means you should have a notebook with you. Jot down your goals, your bucket lists, your dreams and how you'll achieve them. Because without jotting them down, a dream will remain a dream that won't be achievable. Better yet, jot them down on an A4 paper, do it poster-like and paste them on the wall so you'll feel motivated every time you look at them.

We should stop believing that we can't without even try it yet. If we fail after we try, it won't hurt to try again. Even billionaire like JK Rowling failed to publish her books countless times but she didn't give up and finally, Harry Potter is now one of the most famous character in the world. Bear in mind that there is no failure, only feedback. If you failed, it only means that you got bad feedback that needs extra work to turn it into a better one.

The key is, don't limit yourself because whether you believe it or not, you actually don't know your limit. In a matter of fact, no one knows.

Hope my take on this post would help motivated you a bit. Cheer up, fellas!

Starting My Boring Life Again

People usually would do a post of 'What I did for the week' on Sunday but I was just too busy so I'm doing it today. I never did this kind of post before but I thought I want to share with you guys an update of my life currently because honestly, I didn't have the time to do a more beneficial and educated post, LOL. This is just a short post as I've been itching to write but got no time to.

As I told you in my older posts, I've resigned from my last job and currently applying for master study in some local universities and dare to try an oversea university, I chose Deakin University, Australia btw. Not yet completed the application but currently preparing for it. But of course, in the meantime, I NEED A JOB.

I've sent my resume to various architectural firms but unfortunately, I got no feedback at all. It's understandable actually, with our current downfall of economic condition so I redha dah and thought to just do a part-time job at any hipster cafe or shopping mall instead.

But one day my friend, Aya, suggested me to apply for Skim Latihan 1 Malaysia (SL1M) programme by Khazanah Nasional because they were looking for graduates in some fields and architecture was one of them. She got accepted to an architectural firm in Kulim and the firm wanted another graduate so that's why she approached me to apply for it.

Fortunately, I got the job too. I actually applied for it two weeks ago on Tuesday and I got accepted right away so, on Sunday we went to Kulim to find a rented house for us to stay. It was so hectic because of the short notice but fortunately everything went well that day.

Since I applied for the job under SL1M, so it was necessary to undergo a one-month training on soft skills first before starting the actual job. The training was held in Bertam but our rented house was in Kulim so it'll be 30 minutes drive everyday fo a month for attending the training. It's tiring as hell, I know and that's why I've been missing from the blogging world for the whole week or more, if you noticed lah.

Sadly there's NO WIFI at my rent house and currently updating my blog depending on my mobile data connection to my laptop using the hotspot. I've lived my whole life with stable WiFi connection so not having WiFi right now made my life went miserably miserable. Unfortunately, for the whole 7-8 months I'll be here, we won't apply for WiFi. So guys, please pray so that I won't go into madness-state of mind and so that my Umobile internet data will always be in a good condition (I still didn't watch the last two episodes of Innocent Defendant yet and I'm going crazy for that!).

Anyway, I've missed blogging so much so I think I should try my best to update regularly as I used to. I also hope that I could manage to live here with no WiFi and limited entertainment  and I wish the job which would start on April will be the best one, hopefully better than my last job. I'll update about it when the time comes.

How is your life going, guys? Oh, I'll find out about it on your posts, hee.

Assistant Architect : The Reality

I've been asked a lot about how exactly it is, working as an assistant architect especially from my high school juniors who are considering architecture as their major. So why not do a blog post to give you a clear vision on this.

An assistant architect, in mere fact, even as an architect itself, is not a job like what has been told in dramas and movies. Not the kind of job where you work exactly 9.00am to 6.00pm, a job where you bring AO size drawings on your back all the time to meetings or a job where you earn millions in a month time. No, it's not like that at all.

Working in the architectural field, even when studying architecture, pulling an all-nighter is a routine you'll never be able to avoid especially if you're working in a small firm with few staffs. I once stayed up till 6.00am in the office to finish the drawings and printings, only went home to shower and Subuh prayer, then at 8.00am went to tender briefing.

Sounds exhausted right? But the hard work would all be worth it especially if you got compliments from other consultants.

People often think that architects are good at drawing manually as it's our job. No, we draw using computer software, for example, AutoCAD, Sketchup, Revit, etc. But yes, the initial idea usually was done manually, a rough sketch. Since we now do drawings in computer and we have LCD, no one brings AO drawings to meeting nowadays even submitting the drawings was done online. Even if a hard copy of the drawings required for the meeting, folding the drawings into A4 size would be easier so don't dream of carrying the drawing tube on your back to meetings. You'll do that when you're in university, that is if the university still practices students for manual drafting.

When I tell someone that I'm an assistant architect, all they see in me is a rich young woman who works in the professional field. Little did they know that architect is listed as one of the low-paying jobs in the world. I'll just tell you what happen in Malaysia since it'll be more relatable. A starting salary of an assistant architect (fresh graduate of bachelor's degree Part I), is about RM1400-RM1800. But you'll get paid higher if your portfolio is outstanding and you work in a big firm in KL. So yeah, we don't get paid RM2000 and above like everyone else is thinking.

But of course, if we put our heart and sincerity in our job, God will make us feel richer than what we actually earn.

So did you know these things I mentioned about an assistant architect?

Well, when I read this post again, it feels like I only give the negative things but hey, I just want to be real here, okay. Don't get me wrong, I love my job, I love what I do. Passion is all you need to survive architecture field so if you have passion, just go for it.

If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life - Marc Anthony

I'm sure all of us agree with this quote, right?

March Sketch : Shenlong

Guess I should take a break from drawing buildings so this month is a sketch of Shenlong, the dragon from 'Dragon Ball'. Dragon Ball had been my favourite series when I was a kid, still remember the excitement every time the hero shouted 'kamehamehaaa!' to release his power. This drawing was requested by my brother and he wanted it to be coloured.

If you follow my Instagram, you'll find that I only produce black and white sketches. Thing is, I am bad at colouring so I never display any coloured sketch before. I do realize that my watercolour set getting dusty so why not just try it for this one, right? But since I'm taking a risk of it to be ruined, here's the black and white version first.

Shenron dragon ball

I don't know how it will turn out after I put colour in it as it'll be my first time in years trying to colour my drawing so please pray for it to be okay, okay?

Hope you like this one, though.

Sunshine Blogger Award

A big bow to Afifah as she nominated me to do this Sunshine Blogger Award. It's been years since I did something like this so here we go.

The Rules:
  • Thank the person(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog
  • Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo on your post and/or on your blog

Afifah's questions:

1. Introduce yourself as if you really want me to know you and you know I wouldn't judge even if you say your secret crush is Hitler OR just introduce yourself in five words.
Art and writing are my passion.

2. If you never have to work and never have to worry about money anymore, what will you do?
This might be a cliche answer but all if I don't have to worry about money anymore, I'll be traveling the world, alone. Going on a solo trip has always been my dream!

Can you imagine how excited I was?

I've never been called by my real name, Alia as I always have a friend of the same name, and that friend got to be called Alia instead. Here's a list: Rabiatul (primary school. I hate to be called Rabiatul by the way), Roya/Roy (high school), A'a (university) and Lya (blog)

The quirky-est would be Roya/Roy, a combination of my real name, Rabiatul Alia, A friend of mine, Fafiq started the name and the others just followed along. I hated it at first but I got used to it over time.

My sense of direction. I'll have to go on the route 10-20 times before I can memorize it and because of that, GPS is my best friend.

Self-boasting people who're also good at looking down on other people aka an A-hole.

11. If you could have any superpower, what power would it be and why? - it must be skills, not something like time-travelling or immortality.

My Simple Everyday Makeup Routine

My Simple Everyday Make Up Routine

Since going to work is a daily routine, I couldn't stand heavy makeup as I'm too lazy to re-apply it after the Zohor prayer. Also, eye shadow, contouring and all takes too much time and I wouldn't sacrifice my longer bed time just to do them. So here is my simple everyday makeup routine whenever I go to work.

Skincare - Clinique
After cleansing, I apply toner and moisturiser to clean my face before applying any makeup on. Clinique skincare works best for me when I started using them 8 years ago but I think they gradually losing their touch on me so I'm considering changing my skincare actually. Would you do me a favour to suggest some?

Foundation - Sephora Brightening & Hydrating Foundation, No 30
After the toner and moisturiser dried, I'll start to apply foundation all over my face, tapping them using a beauty blender I bought from H&M. Of all the foundations I've tried, this Sephora one really suits me and could almost cover my acne and dark spots that I don't really need to touch them up with a concealer.

Powder - Silkygirl Magic BB White Chiffon Powder Foundation, Code 02 Natural
I'll apply face powder on top of the foundation using a powder brush, also from H&M. I'm comfortable with Silkygirl for face powder, I literally had tried every face powder the store has and I love all of them.

Blusher - Silkygirl Blush Hour, Code 03 Flushing Rose
I apply blusher on my cheekbone to give some colour to my face since I don't do contouring nor highlighting. Silkygirl is basically my first ever make up brand that I used (and still is) so the blusher is Silkygirl's. I never tried other colour blusher as I'm afraid of the too-heavy makeup look but actually I'm considering it so please suggest me some!

Mascara - Maybelline Magnum Volume Express Waterproof
Even though my eyes are small (sepet), I dare to skip everything for eye makeup to save time but mascara is a must. Since I wear contact lenses, I'll look like a ghost if I don't have anything on my eyes. However, I suck at applying mascara on my bottom lashes, they're so short and sikit! Might as well say that I've tried every mascara they have in drugstores but this yellow Maybelline one is my current favourite.

Lip Balm - Mary Kay Satin Lips Shea Butter Balm
It's actually my first time using lip balm because I finally decided to care for my lips as it always get dry and cracked. I love the one I'm currently using, from Mary Kay.

Lipstick - IN2IT Moisture Intense Lipstick, Code MI 10 Cranberry
I don't know whether the sequence of my lips routine is right or wrong, but I'll apply lip balm first, and then the lipstick. I use this IN2IT lipstick since forever because I think the colour and moist finish suits me the best.

Makeup Remover - Simplisity Simply Dual Action Make Up Remover
Of course, ending the day with removing all the makeup to let my face breathe its fresh air.

I'm no beauty expert but I just wanted to share my simple make up routine with you guys.

Do we have the same routine?

When There Was No WiFi

The last seven days was a torture as my WiFi connection went lost. We had miscommunication with UniFi on the bill as we didn't receive any visual of it so it was overdue more than RM300. Ain't nobody got the money to pay right away so my mom had to wait for her payday which led me to seven days of going offline from the internet.

Though I didn't have WiFi, it's a relieve that I have few draft posts in my blog so I just had to open my blog on my phone and click the publish button so my blog won't go a week without a new post. But, it was stressful as I didn't get to do blogwalking, playing online games and updating my K-drama episodes. So these are what I did for the week.

Went Out
Having no WiFi made me finally came out of my bedroom and seeing the world. I went window shopping and spent some evenings enjoying the sea breeze at Lumut. Didn't realize that there's a lot to see rather than staring on my laptop screen, tsk.

I have an exercise bike at home and finally rode it after almost a month just staring at it. But my butt hurt as hell as the seat is hard and small, may be a sign for me to start going out and jogging instead.

exercise bike
look how small the seat is!

Update Portfolio
I'm planning on applying for a new job and master study so I have to update my portfolio but I never got the chance to do it (read : too lazy and too focus on the internet). Since WiFi was gone, my portfolio finally showing progress and I think I could finish it by next few days, yeay!

kpj specialist hospital
not a perfect rendering but whatever

Read Books
I seriously am not that rajin to read books as I love reading blogs more. So the past week I got the chance to grab and read some of the books untouched in my bookshelf when there was no WiFi (finally started reading the fourth book of The Maze Runner series, The Kill Order).

Organized Things
My bedroom was a resemblance to a jungle, the closet and bookshelf was messy. My dad told me to organize my bedroom hundred times a day but I ignored it as the internet took my attention. Finally did it while nothing distracted me.

I never realized how productive my days would've been if I didn't be on my laptop for 24hours a day. I really should spend some time off the internet. Soz.

What you do when you have no WiFi?

Till then,
